Three killed in Sri Lanka suicide blast
Leo de Lile in Colombo, 7.00pm SLT, Oct.29, 2001. Policemen inspect the site where a suicide bomber blew himself in Narahenpita, down Chitra Lane. A suspected Tamil rebel suicide bomber set off explosives strapped to his body killing himself and two others when police tired to corner him. Police believe the suicide bomber may have been waiting for the motorcade of Prime Minister Rathnasiri Wickremanayake, which was scheduled to pass by around 3 p.m. At least 14 people were wounded in the attack.
