Teldeniya magistrate orders Immigration Commissioner to stop Lohan Ratwatte from leaving the country
Frederica Jansz in Colombo, 9.35 p.m. SLT Wednesday December 12. The magistrate for Teldeniya today ordered the Commissioner for Immigration to prevent Lohan Ratwatte from leaving Sri Lanka pending an investigation into the murders of ten Muslim youth at Udathalawinna - Madawala Bazaar in the Kandy district on December 5th, 2001.

Amidst conflicting reports that Lohan Ratwatte fled Sri Lanka on December 7th - (two days after polling had concluded), the Teldeniya magistrate has issued an order today to the Commissioner for Immigration and Emigration to ensure that Lohan Ratwatte is prevented from attempting to leave the country.

Lohan's father, former deputy defence minister Anuruddha Ratwatte has publicly denied his son's involvement in the brutal mass slaying on election day and claimed that Lohan has not fled the country.

Lohan Ratwatte however has not yet made any public statement or appearance since the brutal killings were committed at Udathalawinna on December 5th, 2001.
