LTTE to ask Govt not to have links with renegade Karuna

The LTTE has decided to formally request the Sri Lankan Government ''not to have any talks or links with Colonel Karuna,'' a eastern military leader who was expelled by the rebel outfit on Saturday. Tension has been running high in the eastern part of Sri Lanka since the regional rebel leader, V Muralitharan, better known as Karuna, was sacked from the outfit on Saturday and replaced by a loyalist of Tiger Supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran. ''We are going to officially request the Government of Sri Lanka and the security forces to not have any talks or links with Karuna,'' Mr Thamilselvan was quoted as saying, adding that it was ''ridiculous for Karuna to demand a separate truce pact with him.''
