We have lost a great mathe- matician, engineer, scientist, an old timer of SLNet/LAcNet and a former LAcNet director. Pubudu Dayawansa (Daya) was instrumental in carrying out many LAcNet projects. Pakistan, Sri Lanka to enhance defence ties
thenews.com.pk, February 17. ISLAMABAD: Decade old friends and allies Pakistan and Sri Lanka Friday agreed to further strengthen cooperation in commerce and trade, tourism, gemology and defence besides closer collaboration in the fight against terrorism.

Wide-ranging talks were held between Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama, who have also announced to hold a review meeting to boost their bilateral trade and economic cooperation through the Free Trade Agreement.

Roadside blast kills civilian, wounds 5 soldiers in northern Sri Lanka , military says
Associated Press, Sat February 17, 2007 04:45 EST . - - COLOMBO, Sri Lanka - (AP) A roadside bomb blast killed a civilian and wounded five soldiers in northern Sri Lanka - on Saturday, the military said.

Record arms haul in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO: One civilian was killed and six other persons were wounded when suspected Tamil Tigers set off a fragmentation mine in north Sri Lanka even as the military claimed that the haul of weapons in the eastern operation is the largest in the 25-year history of the conflict.
