No idea who attacked Lankan team: Boucher
PN,
March 8.
WASHINGTON, Mar 07: US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asian Affairs Richard Boucher said on Friday that he was not in a position to determine who was responsible for an attack this week on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore.
‘We have a lot of concerns about that attack but basically it’s for the Pakistani authorities to investigate and find out who did it,’ Mr Boucher told a briefing in Washington.
He noted that Pakistan had already arrested some suspects and may soon find out who was responsible.
Asked what he thought the terrorists were trying to achieve by attacking a cricket team, Mr Boucher observed that apparently, the terrorists did not want the people of Pakistan to live a normal life and that’s why they were targeting every thing, from a cricket team to a Sufi shrine.

Military: Sri Lankan rebels fire at war displaced civilians
xinhua,
March 8.
COLOMBO, March 7 (Xinhua) -- At least two civilians were killed while two more were injured when the Tamil Tiger rebels fired at them on Saturday to prevent them from fleeing the rebel held area in northern Sri Lanka, said the military.
Military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara said they were fired at when they fled the last stronghold of the rebels in the Mullaittivu district and tried to depart for Manmunai in the northern Jaffna peninsula.
The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) have faced worldwide condemnation for using Tamil civilians as human shields in the current military campaign.
