Premadas's son blames UNP leadership for poor performance
Zee, April 18. Colombo: Slain Sri lankan President R Premadasa's son and opposition UNP leader Sajith Premadasa has blamed the party leadership for its poor performance in the general elections and stressed the need for reforming the party.

Sajith, the senior United National Party Parliamentarian from the South Eastern Hambantota district, said the party needs to be reformed to represent the grassroots, including labourers, farmers and fishermen.

"The reform should begin with where the power is centred," he was quoted as saying by BBC's Sinhala service, in an apparent reference to UNP chief Ranil Wickramasinghe. More... Discuss this story

Indonesia to move boat-load of Sri Lanka migrants: ministry
Sify, April 18. Indonesia is likely on Monday to move scores of Sri Lankan migrants who have refused to leave their rickety boat for the past six months, the foreign ministry said.

"Most probably on Monday.... Wait for the details tomorrow," foreign ministry official Sujatmiko told AFP when asked about the expected move.

He declined to say where the approximately 200 Tamil Sri Lankans camped at the port of Merak on Java island after they were intercepted in October bound for Australia would be taken. More...Discuss this story
