Sri Lanka leader keeps key posts, budget seen delayed
Reuters, April 23, 2010 - 12:40PM. COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa on Friday appointed his brother to oversee the island nation's post-war economic development in a slightly smaller cabinet but kept other key ministries himself.

Rajapaksa retained the defence, finance, ports, aviation and highways portfolios in a cabinet cut to 37 from 51. The total number of ministers in Rajapaksa's new government fell to 76 from 109 in his previous administration.

Sri Lanka's new cabinet takes oath
Xinhua, April 23. COLOMBO, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's newly appointed 37- member cabinet took oaths before President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat early Friday afternoon in the capital Colombo, government officials said.

Officials from the Department of Government Information said President Rajapaksa's younger brother Basil Rajapaksa has been sworn in as the Economic Minister.
