Sri Lanka police 'ban critical posters' - Khaleej Times
google.com, 2010-10-05 21:21:16 EST. Sri Lanka’s opposition on Tuesday said police have been ordered to arrest activists who put up posters criticising President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s backing of a prison term for a former army chief who ran against him.

However, police said the order was intended to prevent posters being placed in prohibited areas.

Rajapaksa last week upheld a court-martial finding Sarath Fonseka guilty of corruption while serving as army commander, which means the ex-general will lose the parliamentary seat he won after failing in his presidential bid. More...Discuss this story
