Peace means a homecoming for Sri Lanka's Muslims - Daily Times, 2010-10-26 02:16:32 EST. SRI Lanka’s war, which ended last year, set the mainly Sinhalese government and military against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE - Tamil Tigers), a militant group drawn from the Tamil minority. Caught in between were the Muslims, about 9% of the population and regarded as a separate ethnic group, although Tamil is their mother tongue. Exactly 20 years ago, the Tigers violently expelled almost all of northern Sri Lanka’s Muslims. They fled into internal exile in the south. But with the war now over, a few are trying to return home. Year after death, LTTE chief's case closed - Times of India, 2010-10-26 01:32:19 EST. CHENNAI: The LTTE supremo, Velupillai Prabhakaran, is no more the prime accused in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case. In the first official acknowledgment by India of the LTTE supremo Velupillai Prabhakaran's death, a designated court for Tada cases in Chennai has dropped all charges against him, on the basis of a CBI report. "The case against the absconding accused A1 Prabhakaran, A2 Pottu Amman alias Shanmuganathan Sivasankaran is hereby dropped and the charges against them ordered abated," ruled the designated judge, K Dakshinamurthy, a couple of weeks ago. S Lanka president in maid appeal
