S Lankan trade union threatens to join student union protests - Daily Times, 2010-10-31 02:32:04 EST. COLOMBO: Sri Lanka’s National Trade Union Centre (NTUC) while condemning the arrest of Inter University Student Federation (IUSF) Convener, Udul Premaratna warned that the trade unions would join the students in their campaign, reported the Colombo Page. NTUC President and JVP politburo member, KD Lalkantha said that if the government continued in its suppressive actions against the university students, the working masses would be compelled to join the university students to help win their demands.
