51 injured in Lanka prison clash during drugs raid - Times of India
google.com, 2010-11-07 19:17:04 EST. COLOMBO: At least fifty-one people, including 44 policemen and four prison officials, were injured on Sunday when a drugs raid at Sri Lanka's main jail in the capital sparked violence, officials and doctors said.

Sri Lanka asked to expedite rehabilitation process: P Chidambaram - Daily News & Analysis
google.com, 2010-11-06 13:05:45 EST. India has asked Sri Lanka to expedite the construction of houses for Internally displaced persons (IDPs) as part of the rehabilitation process and the latter has promised to take it up after the monsoon period, Union home minister P Chidambaram said today.

India had conveyed this message during the recent visit of Sri Lankan Mahinda Rajapakse to India, Chidambaram told reporters here after meeting Tamil Nadu chief minister M Karunanidhi.

As part of its efforts in the reconstruction of the war-torn areas of Sri Lanka, India has announced construction of 50,000 houses for the IDPs in the northern and eastern provinces of that nation. More... Discuss this story

Zardari to visit Sri Lanka - MSN India
google.com, 2010-11-07 13:38:08 EST. Colombo, Nov 7 (PTI) Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari will be making a maiden visit to Sri Lanka later this month during which he will discuss with his counterpart Mahinda Rajapaksha cooperation on security and trade issues.

Zardari will become the first head of state to visit Sri Lanka after President Rajapaksha assumes duties for his second term of office on November 19.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi will be accompanying Zardari. A trade and business delegation will be a part of the Pakistani delegation. More...Discuss this story
