Is the LTTE re-grouping in Kerala? - IBNLive.com

The film exhibitors were questioned by the Kerala Police who fear that it could be a garb for the outfit to regroup.

Mullaiteevu Saga, a film about Tamil genocide in Sri Lanka towards the end of the civil war has been dragged into an unwarranted controversy.

A popular Malayalm daily quoting IB sources reported that the screening of the movie which the organizers say was well advertised was actually a secret meeting for regrouping of the LTTE. The state police immediately launced an investigation. More...Discuss this story

Sri Lanka complains president silenced on UK trip
Reuters, Dec 2. LONDON, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Sri Lanka's foreign minister said on Thursday a prestigious British debating society had bowed to intimidation by cancelling a speech by the Sri Lankan president, preventing him from expressing his point of view.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa came to Britain at the invitation of the prestigious Oxford Union and his speech in the university city on Thursday evening was to have been the centrepiece of his week-long trip.

But the Union said on Wednesday it did not feel the talk could safely go ahead because of the "sheer scale" of expected protests planned in Oxford by the large British Tamil community and other critics of the Sri Lankan government. More...Discuss this story

WikiLeaks renews accusations over Sri Lanka war crimes
Reuters, Dec 2. The United States believes there is little prospect Sri Lanka will hold anyone accountable for the bloody end of the war with the Tamil Tigers because war crimes allegations involve top government figures, leaked U.S. documents say.

The January 15 cable sent by U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka Patricia Butenis is among thousands of classified documents released by whistleblowing website WikiLeaks.

Another cable from the U.S. embassy in London reveals an admission by a British diplomat that former Foreign Secretary David Miliband pressured Sri Lanka's government for a ceasefire to help secure Labour party votes from Britain's Tamil diaspora. More...Discuss this story
